Orathin the Listener \u2013 Caretaker of the Swamp<\/h2>\n

Orathin has lived in the swamp all his life and has watched it slowly be desecrated by the foul presence of outsiders, and the bickering of his Irinaxi and Glanbelite kin. Orathin has no love for any of them, despite both factions of his kin attempting to gain his and his clan\u2019s allegiance for decades. He sees their war as folly, when they should have united against the interlopers long ago instead.<\/p>\n

Orathin has walked the Swamps of Lo Fuin for centuries. Before his kin drew swords against each other beneath the surface. Before the outsiders desecrated his home with the monolith to ignorance that is Zander\u2019s Peril. Orathin was among those who first resisted it, besieging the settlement, but ultimately driven back by its defenders, wielding arcane powers far beyond his. Had his Glanbelite and Irinaxi kin been present to help drive them back in those days, Lo Fuin would not be tainted by their presence. Even still, they war amongst themselves as the stench of the outsiders lingers on, sinking deeper into the soil of the swamp.<\/p>\n

It speaks to him. He listens. Rid these heathens from my land, the waters tell him. Orathin wears the burden of failure for how often he has tried, but made little progress. He watches expeditions into the swamp, disorientating them, ensuring the creatures and plants of the swamp claim them. Yet for each expedition that fails, two more succeed and return safely. What they are here for, he does not know. He only wishes them to leave. Forever. Now the Irinaxi finally reach out in the form of a ranger, Karazor. Orathin can see plainly the scheming of the Irinaxi envoy, and is determined to let his aid fall flat, but unbeknownst to him, his wife Saratha has begun working with the ranger and his ilk, believing they can truly bring peace to the surface.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

The set<\/span><\/p>\n

The Drow of Lo Fuin have long been a secluded people, owing to the deadly nature of their homeland. In recent years, the Glanbelite Moon Drow have open limited contact with outsiders in the expeditionary outpost of Zander\u2019s Peril, but that has suddenly ceased. A schism is brewing within the ranks of the Moon Drow, and they suspect outside influence to be the cause, be it the Overworlders, or their Irinaxi Spider kin. Either way, they are now at each other\u2019s throats, and peace is carefully balanced on a knife\u2019s edge.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The campaign<\/span><\/p>\n

In Schism of the Drow the party undertakes a quest that no other adventurers at Zander\u2019s Peril dare: to escort a conjurer through the deathly swamps of Lo Fuin to the Glanbelite Drow city of Hirika. Whilst the journey itself is seen as nigh-suicidal with the friendly Drow no longer tending the route, finding entry to the city may be almost as difficult. If the party does manage to make it inside, they will find that tensions within the ranks of the Glanbelite Drow are bubbling, and the fabric of their once-peaceful society is beginning to unravel.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
