Raised in the bustling Dryland town of Bordrel, Mabel grew up amid the music of her parents’ tavern. Travelling troubadours passed through on their way to the port border of Sudd Tohst, and she filled the quiet hours with lyrics scratched onto old planks and melodies carried in her head. Of all the instruments on the tavern floor, the harp alone held her heart. When a visiting harpist noticed the wonder in the young girl’s eyes, they placed the instrument in Mabel’s hands and told her that fate had made the choice for them.
Years of lessons and journeys to Grimgate and Edimir made Mabel a master of the harp. They also revealed another gift. With the instrument in her hands—and sometimes with only her voice—she could draw adoration from anyone who heard her. People became compelled by her words, willing to risk everything for another glimpse. Mabel eventually understood that Minera’s Breath was moving through her in a rare form, and she learned to keep that secret while using her charm sparingly.
Her songs of love, loss and longing made her one of Baldur’s most renowned harpists and singers, a household name whose melodies endure long after the performance ends. Yet on a visit to Grimhelm, Mabel found someone her nature could not sway: Aaron Drafthold. His resistance and mystery captured her attention, and she followed him toward the Bastion. Investigating a castle for riches seems straightforward enough—though Mabel has not yet learned what she will have to endure for the chance.
